About Us
The World Amateur Baseball Association was developed to offer baseball opportunities to amateur athletes who aspire to develop skills and experience through participation in tournaments, camps, clinics and showcases. We have been involved in developing baseball players for 33 years and are known and respected by college coaches and professional baseball scouts across the country. We look forward to hosting you in our events.
Host Community
Polk County will serve as the host for the 2008 World Amateur Baseball Association Tournament. Boasting world class facilities and accomodations, Polk County is not only well-suited for competition, but also for dining, recreation and entertainment. Polk County currently hosts over two dozen amateur baseball events each year, providing the experience to ensure that your experience is truly one-of-a-kind.
Polk County is the home of two Major League Baseball Spring Training facilities. The Chain of Lakes Complex in Winter Haven serves as the Spring Training home for the Cleveland Indians, as well as the Gulf Coast League Indians, and hosts numerous other events including the FCCAA Baseball Championships and the NAIA Region 14 Championships. The Chain of Lakes Complex features six Major League playing fields, including the Chain of Lakes Stadium. TigerTown in Lakeland is the Spring Training home for the 2006 American League Champion Detroit Tigers, as well as the Florida State League’s Lakeland Flying Tigers, with six Major League playing fields, including Joker Marchant Stadium which is shown below.
Accomodations
Polk County has more than 8,000 hotel rooms and 7,000 vacation rental homes in the area that offer competitive rates.
Lakeland Accomodations
The hotel of choice for Lakeland tournaments is the historic Terrace Hotel located on Main Street in downtown Lakeland.
Another Lakeland hotel offering good rates is the Holiday Inn South which is located on South Florida Avenue which is close to shopping and many restaurants.
Directions to Lake Myrtle Park in Auburndale to or from the Holiday Inn South hotel.
Our newest host hotel is the Admiral's Inn located across from Cypress Gardens Adventure Park. The BestWestern Admiral's Inn & Conference Center is conveniently located just three miles from the Chain of Lakes Sport Complex on Cypress Gardens Boulevard. The hotel is centrally located to numerous restaurants and shopping within walking distance. The Best Western offers complimentary hot and cold continental breakfast, including hot eggs served in our Breakfast Room from 6 am to 10 am. Olympic size pool, outdoor jacuzzi, complimentary use of Gold's Gym for our guests, business center, free internet, Legend's lounge and poolside bar, Antonio's Ristorante, five star, fine dining serving lunch and dinner. Other host hotels are the Hampton Inn and Holiday Inn in Winter Haven. These hotels are located side-by side on Cypress Gardens Blvd. and are within walking distance of restaurants and shopping. More restaurants and shopping are a short drive away.
